Spring in the Missouri Ozarks
April 23 - 26, 2020
Spring is a wonderful time to visit the Ozark Mountains. Dogwood trees blossom and wildflowers pop up as the temperatures warm after a long, cold winter.
Join Craig McCord and explore old mills, search for the wild horses of Shannon County and photograph the rebirth that is at the core of springtime in the Ozarks.
Some workshops take you to the location and turn you loose to photograph with little guidance or instruction in the field. We take pride in our workshop philosophy that centers around education. We want you to get wonderful images while you are with us, of course. But our goal is to help you learn the fundamentals of photography in the field so that you can leave the workshop with the skills you need to capture great images on your own.
Alley Mill is a perennial favorite during the workshop. We will visit this mill when the light is just right to capture it's gorgeous red color and the surreal blue color of the water. And there are lots of old mill equipment pieces inside that are not only fun to photograph but a wonderful opportunity for learning about low light techniques
We also will plan an early morning trip to Klebzig Mill for some fun water reflection shots with the added bonus of blooming dogwood trees.
3 1/2 days of fantastic photography and hands-on field instruction in the beautiful blooming redbud and dogwood trees, spring wild flowers , old grist mills, and natural springs around Eminence, Missouri and Shannon County. And we will try to find the wild horse herds that don't seem to mind photographers if you approach slowly and carefully.
Typical Shooting Locations include (but not limited) to:
Alley Spring and Mill
Rocky Falls, Upper and Lower areas
Little Rocky Creek Shut-ins
Falling Spring Mill
Prairie Hollow Gorge
Wild horses of Shannon County (Provided they cooperate)
