Kansas Prairie Nights
Workshop instruction includes:
Classroom: Initial instruction subjects will include equipment, focusing techniques, camera settings, evaluating exposure, composing, best times for night photography, locating the Milky Way, shooting star trails, light painting techniques, and more. There will be a post processing class the day following our first night shoot.
Night Shoots: Following our initial class the afternoon of Aug 14th,we will venture out to a predetermined location to put into practice techniques learned during the afternoon classroom session. We will capture both the Milky Way as well as star trail images. The first night we will focus on Milky Way capture. On night 2, Aug 15th, we will explore star trail techniques. Craig and Jane will be by your side to coach you along in creating some great night images.
Post Processing: This year this event was expanded to allow more rest before a post processing class. After some needed rest and our hearty ranch-provided breakfast the morning of Aug 15th, we will conduct a post process class, using the images we captured the night before. It is recommended you bring along your laptop (optional) to get the most of the post processing session.
After our post processing class, our gracious host at the Flying W Ranch will again provide us with another complete hot chuckwagon meal before we again venture out for night 2 of some fantastic night photography. After some good rest back at the lodge, we will again have a nice hot breakfast, some last thoughts and discussion over our meal before all heading home.
Price: $580 This fee includes instruction, facility access fees, and chuck wagon meals for 2 evenings and breakfasts meals on each morning of the 15th and 16th. This will be a great opportunity to interact with fellow photographers as we participate in the rapidly growing popularity of nighttime and Milky Way photography.
